Brisen was founded in 1996 by Willie Brits, previously the Procurement Manager of Nola Industries and later a director and shareholder of FR Waring. Willie retired on 28 February 2015 after 18 years as a shareholder and director and is no longer involved in the company.
The combined agricultural marketing and risk management experience of Brisen’s management is 90 years.
In 1997, Paul du Plessis joined Brisen. He was previously the Procurement Director of Meadow Feeds and the Raw Material Manager of Nola Industries. Paul retired from Brisen Commodities’ daily trading activities at the end of March 2023 but remains a director and shareholder.
In 1999 Konrad Keyser joined Brisen. Konrad was previously the International Markets Economist of the Maize Board and Grain Marketing Manager of Senwes.
In 2015 Lukas de Waal on the trading side and Stephan Griesel from the financial division was appointed as directors.
All the abovementioned directors, who are also shareholders in Brisen, have been involved in various capacities in the management of industry organisations such as AFMA, SACOTA and Safex.
